Sunday, November 26, a day to remember the braveness and awesomeness of these cooking team. In the midst of the current security threats on the ground as the country capital city Freetown, woke up gun-firing, Armed men (military and civilians) have raided several barracks – and freed a number of prisoners from the Freetown Central Prison. The fighting went on all day, the hunt for the beating is still going on. Such situation forced the government to declare a nationwide curfew and caused a restriction of movement which couldn’t allow the social workers volunteers to show up for the food service.
Thankfully, the cooking team thought very differently. Despite the curfew, they took to the streets and explained the situation to passing security forces. And guess what! They were given permission to bring the meals to the people experiencing homelessness. Great respect! Proud of these brave women with big hearts! We’re committed to serve people experiencing homelessness they are human being. Help us to continue our social work activities.
