In Freetown, rain is the leading cause of death among people experiencing homelessness — because they lack proper shelter and protection.

From May to October, the rainy season becomes a nightmare. Without cover, lives are lost painfully each year. Homelessness is already a death trap. The rain makes it worse.

For 7 years, SWSL has run the Tarpaulin & Raincoat Campaign to reduce deaths and ease suffering. We give people the protection they need to survive.

Protecting life is a moral obligation. For us as social workers, it’s a professional duty too. Together, we can save lives. That’s what this campaign is about — partnering to protect lives.

So we raising $2,500 as the goal!

Your donation buys tarpaulins + raincoats for one hundred of the most vulnerable: elderly, persons with disabilities, and single mothers experiencing homelessness.

So far: $274 in and $2,226 to go… we are thankful this particular donor donated 6,200 SLE equivalent of $300 in celebrating her 70th birthday -with $150 for the Sunday meal! This is the gift of life and human kindness- we bless her on behalf of our homeless family members. We hope another donor (s) will help us reach our goal to save lives during this rainy season.

Together we promote dignity for everyone. We’re local, we’re committed to make people experiencing homelessness feel seen, loved and cared for. Thank you for your kindness and compassion. Kindly donate here:https://www.paypal.me/liftavillage
