SWSL, being the leading social work organization in Sierra Leone will launch the 2023 social work week. Kickstarting on the 15th March to 21st March, 2023 we celebrate our profession as the first social work organisation in Sierra Leone.

Since 2016, the organization make strives every year to celebrate the month with key activities. All geared towards promoting the social work profession for the public to become more aware about the importance of the profession.
Social work in Sierra Leone is gaining popularity and attracting more students who are enrolling for the course. However, the profession is yet to gain the recognition and respect it deserves from governing bodies.
The good news is – the government through the Ministry of Social Welfare alongside UNICEF Sierra Leone are working on creating a bill for the social work profession in the country.
As other social work organizations across the world are celebrating the social work month, in a similar way the Social Workers Sierra Leone is trying to embark on raising awareness of the importance of all we do.
This year, with the global theme “Respecting Diversity through Social Actions”. And, we are happy to share that Dominic Watters (@SingleDadSW) of the British Association of Social Work will be supporting our events.
The SWSL organization, intend to embark on the following:
Promoting mental health and wellbeing through Social Work at community level. This activity will reinforce current mental health campaigns to persons with lived experiences and persons experiencing homelessness. Also we will address the potential tension and violence in the upcoming general election which has been scheduled for June 24, 2023.
The whole effort during the social work week, SWSL wishes to portray the beauty and uniqueness of diversity. To influence personal growth, community and national cohesion and development.
Support the social workers Sierra Leone during this social work week. Our goal is to raise $2500.
All activities centred around media and community engagement will be shared via regular updates on activities on our website and Facebook page.
Be a part of the social work month celebration in #SierraLeone. Lets start to make a difference through shared action.
